What is THCa?
The raw form of THC, what heat does to it, and why that matters.
THCa is the form THC takes in the living plant. It does little on its own. Heat turns it into THC, which is why THCa flower works the way you'd expect when you smoke or vaporize it.
What heat does
Smoking, vaporizing or baking converts THCa into delta-9 THC. Chemists call it decarboxylation: the heat knocks off part of the molecule. Raw THCa flower that's never heated won't produce the effects of THC.
Why it's sold as hemp
Federal law defines hemp by its delta-9 THC: 0.3% or less by dry weight. THCa flower is measured for delta-9 before it's sold, and each of our products shows that number from its certificate of analysis. State laws vary, so we only ship where hemp THCa is allowed. How strong is it?
Look at total cannabinoids on the product page: the higher the number, the stronger the flower. Start with a puff or two and wait 15 minutes before having more.
Will it show up on a drug test?
Probably. Once heated, THCa becomes THC, and THC is what drug tests look for.

The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp legal federally: cannabis with 0.3% delta-9 THC or less by dry weight. Each product's certificate shows it under that line.
